SOUTH FLORIDA LEADERS HONORED AT NOCHE DE ESTRELLAS 2009 MIAMI, Fl.
- The South Florida After-School All-Stars (SFASAS) along with Comcast, the presenting partner of Noche de Estrellas 2009, will host its inaugural Hispanic Heritage fundraiser on October 17, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO).
The SFASAS provides comprehensive after-school activities to over 2800 of South Florida 's most underserved middle-school children between the "danger zone" hours of 3:00PM - 6:00PM. in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Public School 's Middle School Enrichment Program.
In support of Noche de Estrellas and in celebration of Hispanic Heritage, a special documentary featuring several Hispanic community leaders, artists and writers, representing SFASAS' three program pillars, Academics - Enrichment - Health & Fitness, will air on Miami-Dade TV throughout the month of October. With a line-up of All-Stars, the event will offer live entertainment by Cuban-born Roberto Torres, artistic works of emerging young artists from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela from CIFO's Grants & Commissions program, and a special award presentation by After-School All-Stars students to a distinguished panel of 2009 All-Stars Honorees for their commitment to making a difference in our community.

About South Florida After-School All-Stars
Founded by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, SFASAS is the local chapter of one of the largest national organizations that provides comprehensive programming to middle school children. Through donated funds, SFASAS has had the opportunity to offer engaging activities to over 2800 youth annually in 28 of Miami-Dade County Public schools. The programs are designed to improve the participants' lives by incorporating academics support, cultural enrichment, and health and physical fitness. SFASAS, a 501(c) 3 organization, strives to offer a place to keep children safe and help them achieve in school and in life.
