Annual "Miami-Dade Celebrates
The Art of Its Sister Cities" (Miami-Dade County,
FL) --

A. Loy, Dean and Chair of Miami-Dade County's Sister Cities Program Coordinating
Council, announced that Miami-Dade County's Sister Cities Program and Miami Dade
College will host the Second Annual "Miami-Dade Celebrates the Art of Its Sister
Cities." This international exhibit will be open to the public from:
September
10 through September 26 and will be housed at the Miami Dade College Tower
Theater,
1508 SW 8th Street, Miami, Florida.
Commissioner
Jose "Pepe" Diaz, Chair of the Jay Malina International Trade Consortium expressed,
"I am proud that Miami-Dade Sister Cities Program is engaging in a cultural activity
such as this art exhibit. This will strengthen the cultural and commercial relations
with our sister cities and showcase Miami-Dade County as an international community."
Ms. Norma Amaro, Arts Committee Chair, added that on September 10th, opening
night, an invitation only reception will be held. The art exhibit and sale will
bring together works by local and international artists representing the Sister
Cities' member countries. Artists from Italy, Paraguay, Bahamas, Cayman Islands,
Chile, Jamaica, Guadalupe, Uruguay, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Haiti, Peru,
Costa Rica, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Sweden, Taiwan, Canary Islands
of Spain, Turks and Caicos, Mexico, Ecuador and Puerto Rico as well as representatives
from Miami-Dade County have already confirmed their participation.
Ms.
Amaro also advised that the official art exhibit poster was designed by Rodrigue
Joachin,
a student
at Homestead Senior High School, winner of a recently held student art competition.
The net proceeds of this art exhibit and sale will benefit the Miami-Dade Sister
Cities Student Exchange Scholarship Program.
