Southern Hispanic leaders of Florida met in the Doubletree Grand Hotel to pay homage to the Judge Sonia Sotomayor to be the first person of Puerto Rican origin to be confirmed for a seat in the Supreme Court U.S.

"We applaud the confirmation of the judge Sotomayor because her confirmation to the Supreme Court of US has changed the course of the history ", said Nydia Menéndez, president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida.

"The eyes of all the men, women and children of Puerto Rico are focused on Sonia Sotomayor because her victory is also a victory for women and all the Hispanic community", said Lucy Del Valle-Noriega, President Miami Chapter of (NACOPRW) National Conference of Puerto Rican Women.

"This triumph opens doors and is a challenge for all the Hispanic to aspire to a higher level, upon seeing this example, anything goal is possible when there is a desire to reach it", expressed Nilsa Velásquez, President of Kidco Day Care Centers. In the celebration present personalities of our community were Maurice Ferré, the Mayor Manny Díaz, and Tomás Regalado, among others.
